My Economic opportunity hypotheses
Opportunity: The marijuana Industry
The first Economic that I saw because of a change in regulation is the future marijuana Industry in the United States. California, Colorado and Massachusetts are some of the first states to legalize recreational marijuana, and they have all seen positive affects, such as tremendous tax revenues. To continue, a future mainstream Tv show about Marijuana, the NFL likeliness to take marijuana off its banned drug list, and the booming marijuana industries in countries that have legalized it, prove that marijuana will eventually be nationally legalized, even with some resistance from the trump administration.

To continue, a future mainstream Tv show about Marijuana, the NFL likeliness to take marijuana off its banned drug list, and the booming marijuana industries in countries that have legalized it, prove that marijuana will eventually be nationally legalized, even with some resistance from the trump administration.
The Opportunity:
- Marijuana will eventually be nationally legalized , which will create a booming marijuana industry that will give marijuana investors, marijuana industry entrepreneurs , and specialist in marijuana agricultur, an economic opportunity.
- Who: The amount of marijuana users in states which legalized recreational use, plus all the convictions that have been made for possession of marijuana, show the millions of Americans who are marijuana users. Marijuana investors, entrepreneurs , marijuana agriculture specialist and anyone that works in the industry will take advantage of this economic opportunity.
- What: The marijuana industry will eventually be nationally legalized and become a billion dollar industry.
- Why: California, Colorado and Massachusetts are some of the first states to legalize recreational marijuana, and they have all seen positive affects, such as tremendous tax revenues. To continue, a future mainstream Tv show about Marijuana, the NFL likeliness to take marijuana off its banned drug list, and the booming marijuana industries in countries that have legalized it, prove that marijuana will eventually be nationally legalized, even with some resistance from the trump administration.
Testing The Who:
- Besides the recreational Marijuana users that have this need, I believe by nationally legalizing weed many people will realize the benefits of medical marijuana. By legalizing marijuana and proving that society has changed its mind on marijuana usage, many people might realize the positive affects of marijuana usage.I believe every marijuana user wants marijuana to be nationally legalized to decrease risk, and prove that society is not against marijuana usage anymore.
- The boundaries of this need, of marijuana being nationally recognized , are that it only applies to marijuana users. I believe that by legalizing marijuana , the boundaries of this industry will expand because of the change in opinion of society being recognized. The risks of being a marijuana users are still high, and by being legalized will open the door to more customers who are not current marijuana industries, proved by stats from states that have legalized it.
- I believe that their is this need for the government to nationally legalize marijauna because it will decrease the risk in marijuana usage, show that society's opinion on marijuana has changed and persuade non-marijauana users to see the positive affects, and maybe even want to try it. I believe that all current marijuana users have this same need of marijuana usage being legalized.
- For my first interview, I decided to interview one of my professors teacher assistants, I decided that I wanted to see the opinion of the up and coming work force. I decided to start off the interview by asking if he believed marijuana should be nationally legalized and if he was a marijuana user. Arun said that " I believe marijuana should be nationally recognized, while I am not a marijuana user , I can see the positive affects that states who legalized marijauna are receiving." Next , I asked him if marijuana was legalized if he would try it out, Arun responded by saying " If marijuana was legalized and there was no risk of getting in trouble by the law, he would see no problem in trying it, but that as an immigrant it is too risky to try now." The answers to my first three questions proved that even non-marijuana users believe marijuana should be legalized , and that if legalized non-marijuana users are more encouraged to use marijuana.
- For my second interview, I decided to interview a freshmen at the university of Florida that is in the greek community. I decided to interview a younger adult for this interview to show the opinion of older teens on my hypothesis. I first asked Zach if he is a marijuana user and if he believes that marijuana should be legalized. Zach said " Although I am not a regular Marijuana user, I have tried it and find it fun to do from time to time, I believe that marijuana must be legalized nationally because it has less health disadvantages then alcohol which has been legalized for a while now." I then decided to ask him why he believes that marijuana will be nationally legalized soon, Zach replied " The booming marijuana industry in states where it is legalized, and in countries that have legalized it show the benefits that can come from legalizing marijuana. Finally, Zach said that he believes that nationally recognizing marijuana will prove society change of opinion on marijuana usage.
- While my second interview was a freshmen, I decided to interview another freshmen but, one that was not involved in greek live. I decided to interview a fellow peer in my Macro class. I started off the interview with Lauren by asking her if she has ever used marijuana and if she believes marijuana should be nationally legalized. Lauren anwsered " I tried marijuana once and didn't really like it, but I believe that it should be nationally recognized because of the amount of Americans that are marijuana users." I decided to ask Lauren if she could see herself using marijuana if it was legal, she said " If marijuana was legalized, and their was no risk of a run in with the law, then I could see myself trying it again." Laurens finished off my interview by telling me that she can not see marijuana not being legalized in the next five years because of society support to legalize it .
- For my fourth interview I decided to interview an older member of society, so I called my uncle who lives in south Florida. First, I asked him his opinion on marijuana usage and if he believed it should be legalized. My uncle stated that " He was never a marijuana user, and grew up in a time that the war on marijuana was in full affect, but that however, he believes that marijuana should be legalized." I then proceeded to ask him why he believes it should be legalized, inwhich he replied that " The war on marijuana has been a costly war that has ruined many peoples life with charges, and has been fought by alcohol companies trying to not lose profit.
- For my last interview, I decided to interview a middle aged business owner to see the opinion of a successful business men on the legalization of marijuana. I started off the interview by asking his opinion on marijuana usage and if it should be legalized. He answered by saying, " Although Ive personally never used marijuana, as a businessmen and entrepnuer it is hard for me to not get exited about the possibility of marijuana being legalized." He believes that marijuana is on track to being legalized very soon, and that it will Create a multi-billion dollar industry. He believes that marijuana should be legalized not because of his personal opinion or societys opinion, but because of the economic opportunity it presents to our country, and all the positive affects it can have.
I think the legalization of Marijuana could be a huge economic factor along the way. In the states that it is legal in, you can see how much revenue it has brought in. I am a non-marijuana user and do not think that I would use it if it were to be legalized but I could understand why people would. I personally would not use it just because I do not have the need for it nor do I see a purpose in it. I liked the comments made by the businessman in his interview because I agree that it would open up to be a great business where you will be able to make a lot of money in.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the legalization of marijuana is leading to a big economic shift. If people take advantage early enough, then this will be a great opportunity for people to capitalize to make some serious money. I agree that once this industry is legalized nationally then it could potentially become a billion dollar industry. The biggest advantage that this market could see is the fact that people who have never tried marijuana, would more than likely try it, leading to an expansion of the market.
