Juul/Phix pods vending machine dispensaries

  • The segment that I have decided to focus on for this activity, is college students that live on, or near campus, that have a hassle in getting Juul/Phix Pods.

  1. Interview 1
    • For my first interview, I decided to interview a current freshmen at the University of Florida that I met at a UF library. The first thing I asked Chris was about the need I based my economic opportunity about, if buying Juul/Phix pods and getting the flavors he wanted was a hassle, to see if this he would by a potential customer. Chris said " The only issue I have with my Juul is the hassle that it is for me to buy the pods I want, especially being a college student with no transportation." Chris's answer clearly showed that he has this need I based my economic opportunity of, so then I asked him what his current solution is. Chris stated that " Right now, I just have to go on an hour mission to try to buy pods, and never get the flavors I want." Chris solution showed the extent of this need, and how customers are struggling with this hassle. Chris says that he talks to his friends, and other students on what places has Pods and what flavors, but that by the time he hears it their gone. Chris says he doesn't really search on google, but just asks other student peers.
  2. Interview 2
    • For my second interview, I decided to interview another student at the University of Florida, but an older one. I interviewed a senior studying engineering Named Rob who lives near campus. The first thing I asked him was if buying Juul/Phix pods and getting the flavors he wanted was a hassle, to see if this he would by a potential customer of my economic idea. Rob said, " even thought, I have a scooter it is still very hard for me to find Juul pods around town, especially getting the popular flavors that I want." Robs answer showed me that even students with transportation are having a difficult time finding Juul Pods. This showed that the need that I based my opportunity on is indeed, a need that Rob has. Rob stated that his current solution for this problem, is talking to members of his fraternity and finding out what places has pods, but that by the time he finds out, they might already be gone. This second interview showed me that, even with a form of transportation, buying Juul/Phix Pods were a hassle for every student.
  3. Interview 3
    • For my final interview, I decided to interview a sister of my brotherhood, whom I met up with at Turlington. My interview with Jessica started by asking if she also struggles with  buying Juul/Phix pods and getting the flavors that she wants. Jessica stated how she hadn't even Juuled before UF, but now has this constant need of getting the pods, especially flavors she wants. This answer showed me that Jessica, also experienced this need. I then asked her about her current solution for her need, Jessica said " I have to get my car out of Normal parking lot and drive around town, until I find pods." She expressed how this hassle takes her almost an hour, and how she goes through this problem a couple times a week. She says she tries to ask around where has pods but that most of the information from her friends isn't reliable. Jessica experiences this need on a weekly basis, and clearly expresses her frustration on the hassle that it is get these pods.
All of these interviews proved to me that, the economic need on which I based my economic opportunity on, is indeed felt by a majority of college students. These interviews helped show me that most people do have this need, and that my economic idea could have potential. This segment, of potential customers within or around college campuses, were proven to have the need I based my idea on by my 3 interviews.

  1. Based off of reading some of the interviews that you had taken down. An idea that I think would work really well for your study and your idea is to send out a poll or questionnaire on what flavors people think are the best. Being able to see this you can make the right decisions to maximize your revenue which is obviously the goal for this.

  2. I also used the college age as a major part of the segment that I wanted to keep a focus on. I think, after reading your interviews, that there is certainly a market for your idea within Gainesville. The idea that showed me this the most was in the first interview when Chris said that he had no transportation. It is extremely common for college kids to not have transportation.

  3. Your product seems to remedy the immediate needs of your consumers, which is very important. It seems that as you believed convenience will be the number one factor to boost your sales as people are willing to have limited diversity in flavors and more expensive costs as long as it stop being so damn inconvenient to fuel their habit.
